Privacy Policy for MathsDrill
In short: MathsDrill works offline and doesn't require an account. Your answers, timings, history and weak spots stay on your device unless you choose to sign in for cloud sync. The Android app uses a limited Meta advertising-measurement SDK to attribute installs and record two milestones; it does not show ads or send your identity, answers or scores to Meta. We never sell your data.
1. Using MathsDrill without an account
You can use the app by tapping "Continue without an account". In this mode, your MathsDrill practice data — your streak, practice history, drill timings, weak spots and answers — is stored only in your device's local storage and is not sent to our Firebase database. The limited Android advertising measurement described in section 4 still applies. Core drills remain functional offline, and if you uninstall the app or clear its storage, the local practice data is gone because we hold no account backup.
2. Creating an account
If you choose to sign in, you can do so with an email address and password, or with Google Sign-In. Both are handled by Firebase Authentication, a Google service. Depending on how you sign in, this collects:
- Email and password sign-in: your email address. Your password is verified and stored by Firebase Authentication directly — MathsDrill never sees or stores your password itself.
- Google Sign-In: the email address and name associated with your Google account.
- In both cases, a unique account identifier (a Firebase user ID) is created for you. This ID is what your practice data is linked to.
Signing in exists so your progress can follow you across devices. It is entirely optional — the app does not require it.
3. What syncs to the cloud once you're signed in
When you're signed in with a real account (not a guest), the app mirrors a specific, limited set of fields from your device to a private database record tied to your account. This is a one-way mirror of local data for backup/sync purposes — your device remains the source of truth. Specifically, this includes:
- Your chosen display name/username
- Your current and longest streak, and the dates you practiced
- Your practice session history: timestamps, session length, accuracy, and per-topic performance breakdowns (aggregate stats only — not the individual questions or answers you typed)
- Your "weak spots" list: which specific math facts (e.g. a particular times-table combination) you've missed or answered slowly, so the app can re-drill them — this is just a record of which facts and how many misses, not any other personal content
- Free trial status (whether you've started/used it) and practice-day/rank counters, used to track your progress through the app's ranking system
- Your notification preference (on/off) and preferred reminder hour, if you've set one
- If you join an accountability Room, your display name, daily submission scores, peer review feedback, and reactions you post — visible only to members of that Room
This data is readable only by your own signed-in account — access rules on the database enforce that no other user can read or write it.
4. Advertising measurement in the Android app
To understand whether advertising on Facebook or Instagram leads to useful app installs, the Android app includes the Meta App Events SDK. It records app installation/activation and two limited events: the first completed Daily Drill and reaching a three-day activation milestone. We send no event parameters, email address, name, Firebase user ID, answers, individual questions, timings, accuracy, weak spots or purchase data to Meta.
The Meta SDK may process the Android advertising ID or other device identifiers, device and app attributes (such as device model, operating system, app version and package name), network information (such as IP address, language, time zone and mobile operator), and the limited events above. Meta uses this information for advertising attribution, measurement, fraud prevention and campaign optimisation under its own terms and privacy policy. An IP address can imply an approximate location; MathsDrill does not request or send precise location.
This measurement is separate from account sync and can occur whether or not you sign in. Resetting or deleting your Android advertising ID in device settings limits advertising-ID use. Clearing the app's storage resets the app's local record of which milestone events were sent.
5. What we don't collect
- No ads are displayed inside MathsDrill
- No general-purpose product analytics, session replay or cross-app profile is created by MathsDrill
- No access to your contacts, camera, microphone, or precise GPS location
- No sale of personal data
6. Where your data is stored
Account and sync data is stored using Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore and Firebase Authentication), hosted in Google's asia-south1 (Mumbai, India) data center region. Firebase encrypts data both in transit and at rest. Google acts solely as our infrastructure provider — it does not use your data for its own purposes.
Advertising-measurement data is processed by Meta separately from our Firebase database. See Meta's Privacy Policy for its storage and retention practices.
7. Fonts
The app loads its typeface (Inter) from Google Fonts' servers. Loading any web font this way means your device makes a request to Google, which — like any web request — exposes your IP address to Google as part of standard server logs. This happens regardless of whether you have an account, and Google Fonts does not set tracking cookies.
8. How long we keep your data
Local, on-device data stays until you clear the app's storage or uninstall it. Cloud-synced data tied to your account is kept for as long as your account exists, so your progress is there when you sign back in — until you ask us to delete it.
9. Your choices and deleting your data
- Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage immediately removes all data stored on your device.
- Logging out signs you out of your account on that device but does not delete your local data or your cloud-synced data — it's still there for when you sign back in.
- To delete your account and all data associated with it (both your authentication record and everything synced to the cloud), use our account deletion page and sign in to delete it immediately. If you cannot sign in, email us at smrenterprises24@gmail.com from the email address associated with your account. We will complete verified email requests within 30 days and confirm once it's done.
10. Children's privacy
MathsDrill is a math practice tool and doesn't knowingly collect personal information beyond what's described above. It does not require any personal information to be used at all — the offline, no-account mode covers full app functionality. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has created an account and provided personal information, contact us using the details below and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
12. Contact us
Questions about this policy, or requests regarding your data, can be sent to smrenterprises24@gmail.com.
